Hello, and thank you for stopping by. I’m Dan, an archery enthusiast who’s been on a journey of rediscovering this wonderful sport.
Before you get too excited, this blog won’t provide tips that will get you into the next Olympic archery team (although let me know if they do), but you will get honest insights from my archery experiences.
I reconnected with archery in 2023, joining Great Rissington Archers, a friendly local club in the Cotswolds, as a way to get outdoors and build a social network. A downside of working full-time from home was spending too much time switching between the study and the living room, and not speaking with people in person.

Since then, I have entered competitions in the local area and qualified as a Session Coach in 2024, which has enabled me to offer beginner courses. Now, I’m no archery guru, and at the time of writing this, I’m yet to get all my arrows in the 10 zone (the gold centre). One day I hope! I’m just like you, learning and growing in this sport.
I hope that you’ll find my ramblings helpful or perhaps more importantly, give you some reassurance that it’s ok not to get those perfect scores. I love the sport, and my passion for it is what keeps me going, even when things don’t go as planned.
Well, that’s enough from me. Please feel free to connect with me on Instagram (DanHoldenUK) or Bluesky (ArcherDan.UK).
Take care,
Dan
